Ask The Band: Latterman by on 2006-06-05 |
If you could tour with anybody, who would it be?
- Seriously, no one.
My question is when did you realize that positive music was for you? Not singing about killing
yourself or others, but in fact helping communties.
- Positive music isn't necessarily for me, I just write how I'm feeling. Sometimes it's posi,
sometimes it's not. I sing about "helping communities" because I think it's important.
What process you go through to write both music and lyrics. I'm in a band myself and am having
troubles writing catchy original material.
- We go to practice, someone has an idea, then we practice, then we have a song. Lyrics come
later through frustration and drug use.
With the success of "No Matter Where We Go..." and the reissue of "Turn Up The Punk, We'll Be
Singing" will you still play basement shows or will you move up to small punk clubs?
- We will play shows that we don't deem bullshit. Basement shows, usually, are not bullshit.
Sometimes punk clubs are, sometimes they're not. It all depends. We will never play stupid
Groezrock again though. Fuck that shit.
Politics is obviously a large part of what you are about... are the lyrics based upon personal
experiences of situations?
- Yup.
Will you guys ever go major label or are you guys staying with Deep Elm?
- No.
What are the main bands that have influenced you guys?
- Contra, Explosivo, Kiwi, Oblique, the lazer, LA karate, etc....
So do you guys like that band Guadalupe? I heard they're a bunch of idiots. Didn't they steal
that "bike tuff" joke from you?
- Actually they stole the name "Guadalupe" from us. That was our original band name and they
stole it. They are thieving thieves. Also, no one stole "bike tuff" from anyone, and it's not a joke.
Is your name some form of tribute to the popular tv host 'david letterman' ?
- Nope
What is your favorite folk/punk band?
- Bruce Springsteen.
What have you guys been listening to lately?
- Leatherface and the new Tim Barry acoustic record.
Hey with all the competition and over-flooding of bands these days what do you feel really sets you apart from the rest and would make anyone want to give you the attention you are looking for?
- Brian Crozier
